Google announced the Google Page Speed service, concentrated on automatically speeding up the loading of our web pages. The service is still in beta, so you have to apply for access in order to use it. It is still free, but the plans are to be paid once it is fully functional.
Google promises speed improvement between 20% to 65%. For that to happen you have to point your domain’s DNS to Google’s servers, then Page Speed Service fetches content from the webmasters’s server, rewrites the pages, and makes them available for redistribution from Google’s servers.
Whether or not this will prove a successful endeavour will depend on the question about privacy and control over the content, once it is on Google’s servers.
